Changing My Pictures and My Music
Normally, when you open up the Start Menu, below Documents, is shown My Pictures and My Music
If you want, you can change these to any other locations you may use more frequently.

Start Regedit

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

By default, the icons on the desktop are quite large.
To change the size

Right click on the Desktop
Select View
Set it to Classic Icons

 You can also hold down the Control key while the desktop is displayed

Use the wheel mouse to make the icons larger or smaller
This gives more control
